The shortest war in history took place in Zanzibar, an archipelago located in the Indian Ocean and belonging to Tanzania. However, for a long time, this territory was part of the “Islands of Spices”, a land well known because it contains cloves, cinnamon, pepper and nutmeg in abundance, therefore being one of the destinations of the “route of spices”.
At that time, the territory was being ruled by Khalid bin Barghash, who had been named sultan just 42 hours earlier.
