“The man’s behavior included assault, illicit alcohol consumption, intimidation of other customers, and even children, suspected handling of illegal substances and urinating inside the cabin,” said a spokesperson for Jet2.

Still according to the airline's official statement, passengers had to disembark in Faro (Portugal) so that the aircraft could be cleaned. Only after these procedures were they able to leave for the Spanish island.

Prejudice

In addition to the emotional damage, some passengers suffered financial loss, as there was a delay in flight. In this way, some people lost their reservations in Tenerife.

Accommodation and food for affected customers was covered by Jet2. In addition, the airline confirmed that it will try to recover all the cost caused by the diversion. According to the Mirror, the company's estimate is that it is a five-digit loss.

Flight man's behavior was 'absolutely disgraceful', says airline director

According to Phil Ward, managing director of Jet2, the man's behavior was "absolutely disgraceful". Therefore, the company wants to publicly apologize to all customers who were on board and also those who were affected.

"We have a zero tolerance approach to such behavior and would like to thank the Portuguese authorities for their assistance in removing the man from the aircraft."

He concluded by saying that he hopes that this man's behavior will serve as an example to show that the airline treats this type of situation with seriousness and severity.
