Learn to listen to audios on WhatsApp without leaving any evidence

It is important to prioritize respect for privacy and, in this sense, it is essential that each person has the right to choose how to interact with messages received through applications.

In the case of WhatsApp, for example, there are different methods to listen to an audio message without the person who sent it knowing.

How to listen to an audio without the other person knowing?

forward the message

Some people may prefer not to disable read receipts as this also prevents them from knowing when others have viewed their messages and listened to their audios.

In these cases, forwarding the message is one of the best ways to hear the hidden audio. Follow these steps:

  1. Open WhatsApp on your device (either on mobile, desktop or browser);
  2. Locate the audio message you want to hear without leaving a trace;
  3. Press the audio message carefully to avoid accidentally playing it;
  4. After selecting it, choose the “Forward” option, which is represented by a curved arrow to the right;
  5. Now, select who you want to forward the message to;
  6. Remember that you can send it to yourself after app updates;
  7. Just play the audio in the new conversation and the sender won't get confirmation that you heard it.

Remove the read receipt

You also have the more conventional option of disabling read receipts altogether. By choosing this option, you will not be notified when someone listens to your audios or views your messages.

This is the step by step to disable this function:

  1. Open WhatsApp on your device, whether on Android or iOS;
  2. Access the settings menu, which can be represented by three dots on Android or by “Settings” on iOS;
  3. Navigate to the “Privacy” section;
  4. Look for the option that says “Read receipt”;
  5. Disable this option;
  6. Now no one will know when you have read or listened to a message in the app.
