O Instagram is one of the most popular social networks in the world, with over 1 billion active users. One of the platform's main tools is the algorithm, which decides what appears in each user's feed.
For a long time, the functioning of this algorithm was a mystery, but now the CEO of Instagram, Adam Mosseri, has decided to reveal it how it works.

In a series of videos posted on his Instagram account, Mosseri explained that the Instagram algorithm takes into account three main factors: interest, timing and relationship.
User Interactions
The first factor, interest, refers to user interactions on the platform. The algorithm analyzes which publications the user interacted with the most and, based on that, determines which content is most relevant to him.
That is, if you like and comment on photos of dogs, the algorithm is more likely to show more photos of dogs in your feed.
Chronology
The second factor, chronology, refers to the order in which posts appear in the feed. The algorithm tries to show the most recent posts, but it also takes user interest into account. That is, if an older post is considered more relevant to the user, it may appear first in the feed.
Relationship
The third factor, relationship, refers to the interaction between users. The algorithm takes into account the frequency with which the user interacts with certain profiles and, based on that, decides which content is most relevant to him.
That is, if you usually interact more with a friend's profile, the algorithm is more likely to show more content from that friend in your feed.
Interaction on Reels
This new tab is the sensation of the moment, based on the format already established by TikTok. In it, you can find super fun and interesting content, such as curiosities, tutorials, recipes and humorous videos. But how to stand out among so many? It's simple: some factors are taken into account by the algorithm when showing videos to the public.
For example, your interactions with other profiles may be an indication that you are interested in a certain subject. In addition, information about the content of the video and the creator's profile also count points.
