Apple will be forced to indemnify users
A class action filed in the United States was recently won against the company Apple. Consumers who own an iPhone 4S claim to have suffered losses as a result of the operating system upgrade to iOS 9. At the time, smartphones were plagued by slowdowns and other issues that limited their usability.
The iPhone 4S, released in 2011, was one of the best smartphones at the time with iOS 5. The most recent update of the device's operating system was iOS 9, released in 2015. The owners of the model at the time discussed the issues and decided to file a lawsuit against Apple, which would have compromised the quality of operation of the operating system.
Apple lost lawsuit and will be forced to compensate consumers
After a thorough examination of the facts, the Court decided that consumers should be compensated. If that happened in Brazil, the total compensation would be around US$ 20 million, or about R$ 100 million. It is noteworthy that only consumers who participated in the action in the United States are entitled to a refund.
Regardless of how high the overall value is, the truth is that individual wealth is not that significant. Each customer must receive a minimum of US$15, or approximately R$75. In the near future, Apple will make available a website where customers will be able to enter their information and that of the iPhone 4S in question. Payments should be made soon, but for now, you have to wait for the completion of legal procedures.
