In real time: Gmail lets you track orders on Android and iOS

It will now be possible to track your orders placed over the internet using Gmail, Google's email service. As announced in November, the users can use the tool that detects the tracking code sent by email, indicating the current status of the product delivery. This functionality can be used on the two main smartphone operating systems: Android and iOS.

It should be noted that Google has not yet confirmed whether this new functionality will be effectively implemented in Brazil. What can be seen in the statement is that package tracking is available "on most major US carriers". Even so, the option to enable the tracker is available for some Brazilian user accounts. Want to check yours? It's very simple to access. See right below:

How to use Gmail parcel tracker?

First of all, the application must be updated on the device. The user also needs to accept a notification that will appear on the tool's home screen. In case the notification does not really appear on the Android operating system, just follow the step by step:

  • Enter the Gmail app;
  • Access the settings;
  • Choose an email account;
  • Search for the “Package Tracking” option;
  • Activate.

For iOS devices, you can enable the feature by following this procedure:

  • Sign in to Gmail;
  • Access the application settings;
  • Choose an email account;
  • Search for the “Package Tracking” option;
  • Activate.

How does tracking work?

The new functionality allows the user to be notified directly by the e-mail application regarding the location of its delivery, without having to enter Gmail, copy a code and go to another website or application to follow the position of the order at that moment.

When accessing Gmail, a timeline with three statuses for your order will be highlighted: “Order confirmed”, “Sent” and “Delivered”, all accompanied by two buttons that allow access to more details and information about the purchase done.
