Brazilian wine wins award for label at the 'Oscars' of wines

The Decanter award, created by the largest magazine about this drink in the world, is considered the “Oscar of Wines” and attracts the attention of producers from all over the world.

In the twentieth edition, promoted this year, 236 specialists from 57 countries meticulously evaluated 18,250 labels. O Brazilwon 105 medals, two gold, 27 silver and 76 bronze. This award has become an important recognition of the quality and competence of Brazilian producers.

Piquant Soleil vintage 2022

Ferreira winery, founded 13 years ago in Serra da Mantiqueira, celebrated its first gold medal in the Decanter with the prestigious dry red wine “Piquant Soléil vintage 2022”.

Made with 100% Syrah grapes and rated 95 points by the judges, “Piquant Soléil” is a true oenological masterpiece.

The wine specialist responsible for the success of this label is Isabela Peregrino. Masterfully, she brought out black fruit aromas and spice flavors, with a palate marked by accentuated tannins. The result is a wine with a unique character that reflects the unique taste of Serra da Mantiqueira.

Dormovil Ferreira, founder of the winery, does not hide his satisfaction with winning the gold and points out that Ferreira wines had already been highlighted in other international awards.

Since 2019, the company has received silver medals in all Decanter editions, with several labels surpassing the 90 point mark.

The history of Ferreira winery is full of dedication and passion for the drink. The enterprise was born as a hobby, when Dormovil decided to plant vines in his own backyard in Campos do Jordão, resulting in a modest harvest of 18 bottles of homemade wine.

Today, the winery extends over 100 hectares and annually produces around 10 tons of grapes from 15 different strains, reaching the impressive mark of more than 30 thousand bottles of premium wines from 2019 to 2023.

With a track record of 26 gold, silver and bronze medals in internationally renowned competitions, including the “Paris Wine Cup” in Paris and the “Sommeliers Choice Awards” in San Francisco, Ferreira winery has been a true representative of the potential of Brazilian wine in the world scenario.
