MEC holds hearing for restructuring of High School

Last Monday, May 29, the Ministry of Education (MEC) held a public hearing in partnership with the National Education Forum.

The purpose of the event was to receive proposals for the Public Consultation on the Evaluation and Restructuring of the National High School Policy, established by Ordinance No. 399/2023.

On the occasion, there were representatives of the Forum, as well as representatives of the MEC secretariats.

The proposals presented during the event will serve as the basis for decision-making by the MEC in relation to the normative acts that regulate the New High school.

Public Consultation for the evaluation and restructuring of the National High School Policy

The public hearing took place in the auditorium of the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (Capes), in Brasília, starting at 2 pm, and was broadcast live on the MEC channel on YouTube.

The next meeting is scheduled for June 6, also at 2 pm, with the National Council of Secretaries of Education (Consed). All meetings took place in the Capes auditorium, following Brasília time.

The Public Consultation for the Evaluation and Restructuring of the National Policy on Secondary Education has started and is due until next Tuesday, June 6, and may be extended if necessary.

It included several activities, such as the public collection of contributions through the Participa + Brasil Platform, a Cycle of Webinars with Experts, a Cycle of Seminars “Dialogues on basic education – secondary education” in partnership with the National Association of Graduate Studies and Research in Education (ANPEd), online consultation and focus groups with students, teachers and managers.

The public hearings held previously were coordinated by the Secretariat for Articulation with Education Systems (Sase) and had the participation of four educational entities.

The first hearing took place on May 11 with the National Education Council (CNE), followed by the meeting with the National Forum of State and District Education Councils (Foncede) on the 24th of the month past.
