While there has been a hot start to the week across much of the country, a new cold front is approaching and temperatures are likely to drop over the weekend.

These weather conditions are being caused by an area of low atmospheric pressure that parked between Rio Grande do Sul and Argentina.

Forecasters urge southern residents to stay alert, as persistent rains could result in disruption in these specific areas.

In the Southeast of the country, firm weather is expected in most of the region, while the Midwest is facing a dry and hot air mass effect, increasing temperatures and reducing humidity donate.

On the other hand, in the North and Northeast, rain showers of around 40 mm in volume are expected, due to the influence of the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ). The rains are expected to occur in an area that extends from Amapá to the southwest of Piauí.

Forecasts beyond this weekend

The cold front that is arriving in the south of the country this Friday should remain there until the 8th of May, especially in the east and north of Rio Grande do Sul and in Santa Catarina.

In addition, the accumulated rainfall that will fall in the region can reach 150 millimeters. Although there is forecast of rains also in the southwest of Paraná, it is expected that the volumes will be smaller, varying between 35 and 100 millimeters.

At the beginning of next week the weather will remain firm in the Southeast, as well as in some parts of the Midwest and Northeast, due to the permanence of a dry air mass in these regions.

However, in the north of the country, tropical rains are expected, with volumes between 35 and 150 millimeters, from the west of Amazonas to the south of Maranhão.

For the second half of May, between the 9th and 14th, the rains are expected to return to the Southeast, but irregularly. Meanwhile, the rain should decrease in the South and remain significant in the North, mainly in the territory of Amazonas and Roraima.
