light

In first place we have the light products. This is the terminology given to products that have a 25% reduction in some ingredient, such as sugar, salt and/or fat. The intention is that these foods have a decrease in calories in their composition to be consumed by those who have some dietary restriction or are in the process of losing weight.

Diet

Like Ligths products, these foods are also for groups that have dietary restrictions and cannot consume some ingredients, such as sugar or fat. This is the case for people diagnosed with diabetes and/or hypertension. However, going against what many believe, the product belonging to the diet category does not necessarily make it a less caloric food. As, for example, diet ice creams usually have more calories than the product in its normal composition, as more fat is added to compensate for the lack of sugar.

Zero

Finally, we have the so-called zero products, which are those that have total exclusion of some ingredient, such as “zero sugar”, “zero lactose” and “zero gluten”. However, these products are generally for people who have more severe dietary restrictions and who cannot ingest these components due to the risk of compromising their health.
