The clarification came after the Secretary of State for Education migrated, in early 2023, six civic-military model schools to Military Police Colleges.
With this change, Goiás now has 76 military schools, thus not being subject to the impact of the federal government closing the program.
According to Caiado, the decision to transform these civic-military schools into military collegesit had already been taken over by the state, recognizing the efficiency of this educational model.
Thus, the change to the system of State Colleges of the Military Police of Goiás (CEPMG) was planned with advance, guaranteeing the continuity and quality of education in these institutions, regardless of decisions taken by the Union.
The civic-military schools, which were previously maintained with resources from the Ministries of Education and Defense, are now managed by the Government of Goias, which gives them autonomy for the elaboration of the curriculum and the pedagogical structure.
Emphasizing the importance of military colleges for the good performance in the Basic Education Development Index (Ideb) and for the training of students, the governor explained that the purpose of recording the message was to reassure the population in light of the news about the closure of the federal program.
the change
In January 2023, the Secretary of State for Education formalized the change by rescinding the Technical Cooperation Agreements of the Civic-Military Schools, previously signed with the Ministry of Education (MEC), and make the migration to the CEPMG.
This transition was carried out through the approval of a bill in the Legislative Assembly of Goiás (Alego), reinforcing the state's commitment to quality education.
The civic-military school program, created in 2019, covered 202 schools across the country, serving approximately 120,000 students. MEC stated that these units will not be closed, but will be reintegrated into the regular education network.
The decision of the Goiás government to adopt an innovative approach and reinforce the importance of civic-military education, again highlights Goiás as a reference in national education.
