According to the company, sustainable packaging has the “recyclable” symbol on its body. Announced in November 2022, the initiative took effect this month in the land of kangaroos.

Mars' portfolio director, Richard Weisinger, confirmed the company's intentions with the adoption of the measures put in place now.

“This move is the first of many steps for us, and once our candy bar portfolio has the its packaging completely changed, we will eliminate more than 360 tons of plastic from our value chain”, confirmed.

Mars and Snickers chocolate bars are the first to receive recyclable packaging in Australia and across Oceania. Meanwhile, the Australian sweets market is the first in the world to adopt this measure.
