What medicine is this?

Check out now what this medicine is and what it can do for you:

propranolol

Propranolol hydrochloride, or just propranolol, is initially used to treat hypertension, but there are cases in which it can also be used in patients with migraine or anxiety.

How it works?

This medication helps to reduce stress. Its active principle inhibits the circulation of adrenaline in the bloodstream, which is also known as the stress hormone. After the decrease in adrenaline, the heart slows down, leaving the patient less sensitive to external stimuli.

Heartbroken

Scientists at the University of Ottawa, Canada, are studying ways to help alleviate the sadness caused by a broken heart caused by separations during some point in life. After some research and testing, they realized that propranolol can indeed help in this type of situation.

Journal of Affective Disorders

The study was recently published in the Journal of Affective Disorders, a scientific journal. In the article, it was analyzed whether propranolol, in conjunction with therapy sessions, can help patients cope with the adjustment disorder that stems from a broken heart. According to the researchers, 72% of the volunteers who took the medication for four weeks had positive responses to the treatment.

Researchers induced patients, during this period, to describe how they were feeling about their affective loss. And because of the positive patient responses, the researchers were able to conclude that propranolol showed promise in reducing the symptoms of the off-balance state.

However, they suggest that further studies be carried out to confirm and use the drug to heal a broken heart. Do not start any treatment before consulting a doctor.
