A cold front that has been advancing from the south will cause a new drop in temperatures in south-central Brazil in the coming days.
According to meteorologist Andrea Ramos, from National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet), the occurrence of frost is expected in Rio Grande do Sul and Mato Grosso do Sul throughout this week. In addition to the cold climate, regions of the South and Southeast will also be affected by rain.

Since Monday, polar air is influencing the country. According to Climatempo, the formation of frost has already been recorded in Rio Grande do Sul, with temperatures reaching 1.3°C in the municipality of Quiraí. From Wednesday, the cold air mass will expand even more, as Andrea Ramos explains:
“It will start operating not only in Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina, but also in the eastern part of São Paulo, specifically in the southeast. On Thursday, it will reach the southeast of Minas Gerais and also part of Rio de Janeiro, mainly in the mountainous region. In the Midwest, it will mainly affect the south of Mato Grosso do Sul, where there is a possibility of frost, and also the south of Goiás”, says the meteorologist.

The expectation is that on Friday the drop in temperature will already be consolidated and the cold will remain during the weekend.
“It will be cold. The core of the cold air mass will be in the center and east of Santa Catarina and in the east of Paraná. In São Paulo, it will be cold, as well as in the southeast region of Minas, including Rio de Janeiro and Espírito Santo”, concludes Andrea Ramos.
The expert also pointed out that the situation this week tends to be calmer compared to the previous week, which was marked by the passage of a extratropical cyclone devastating.

The forecast also indicates the occurrence of rainsin Paraná, Santa Catarina, Espírito Santo and in the northern regions of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.
In Rio de Janeiro, a minimum temperature of 13°C and a maximum of 27°C is expected. The rain should arrive on Tuesday, in isolation, and remain present on Wednesday and Thursday.
In São Paulo, there are chances of rain throughout Tuesday and it should remain. The minimum temperature expected for the next few days is 13°C, with a maximum of 23°C.
In Curitiba and Paraná, the thermometers will mark between 7°C and 19°C until Friday, and there is a forecast of precipitation between Tuesday and Thursday. In Florianópolis, capital of Santa Catarina, it will also be cold, with temperatures ranging between 13°C and 22°C until Friday.
In Porto Alegre (RS), the minimum will be 5°C and the maximum 22°C throughout the week, with chances of isolated rain on Thursday.
