A case that looks more like a scene from an action movie happened at an Apple store located at Seattle Coffee Gear, in the city of Seattle, in the US state of Washington.
Local press reports report that two thieves managed to gain access to the establishment through a hole made in the bathroom wall. Upon leaving the store, criminals took no less than 436 iPhones. Altogether, the devices are worth more than US$500,000 (approximately R$2,524,700).

According to the authorities that are investigating the case, the thieves used a cafe that is next to the store to gain access to the wall that leads to the bathroom and manage to make the break-in.
Businessman Eric Marks, owner of the cafe used as a springboard by the bandits, explained how he found out about the incident, in an interview given to the King 5 News newspaper.
“I never imagined that my store could be used to access Apple. How did that happen?” he said. “So, I believe that someone actually had access to the layout of the mall to put together this robbery plan”, he pointed out.
The CEO of Seattle Coffee Gear, Mike Atkinson, used his Twitter to post a photo of the tunnel that the robbers created to access the Apple Store bathroom.
“Two men broke into one of our retail locations. Drilled a hole in the bathroom wall to access the Apple Store next door and steal $500,000 worth of phones,” he wrote.
After the crime, $900 was spent replacing locks on the entire Seattle Coffee Gear, and about $800 repairing the bathroom destroyed by the burglars.
Eric Marks, Mike Atkinson and others involved in some way with the incident, revealed to King 5 News who believe in an action planned by people working at Seattle Coffee Gear, due to the accuracy of the actions.
Quite possibly, the thieves saw holes in the Apple store's security, which was interpreted as an opportunity given the fact that iPhones are valuable items.
Starting with the iPhone 14, which starts at $699 in the US, these devices are as valuable as gold and highly sought after on the black market.
Many Apple stores located in shopping centers do not have their own security, which makes them dependent on the security provided by the location where they are installed.
To make matters worse, many of these stores have products on display, which leaves them open to thieves who take advantage of all these factors to act.
So far, no one has been arrested.
