But doubts arose: will there be a PIX charge in 2023? The Director of Relationship, Citizenship and Conduct Supervision of the Central Bank (BC), Mauricio Moura, clarified this issue during the weekly live held last Monday, June 12th.

Mauricio Moura stated, firstly and categorically, that there are no plans to end the PIX. According to him, the service is here to stay and has become a real asset for Brazilians.

In addition, the director reassured the population by stating that there are no studies to tax operations carried out through the PIX. After all, the objective of the system is to promote financial inclusion and make people's lives easier, not burden them with additional costs.

More agility and security in financial transactions

During the live, Moura stressed that PIX is not a Federal Government project, but an initiative developed by the Central Bank. He highlighted the importance of the service in integrating 45 million Brazilians to electronic transactions, providing more agility and security in day-to-day financial transactions.

In addition, the director addressed other matters relevant to the country's financial system. He highlighted the importance of financial inclusion and stressed that indicators in this area should be monitored to promote competition among banks.

financial education

In the field of financial education, Moura expressed optimism regarding the country's progress in this regard. He mentioned the Learning Value program, developed by the Central Bank in partnership with students from the public school system.

This initiative aims to provide solid knowledge about personal finance and warn about scams and fraud, such as those related to the Values Receivable System (SVR). The director emphasized that neither the Central Bank nor the banks request confidential customer data, such as passwords and card numbers.

Although there is some concern about inflation, Maurício Moura explained that the topic was not addressed in the live due to the proximity of the Monetary Policy Committee (Copom) meeting.

As the Copom will meet on the 20th and 21st of June, the director considered it inappropriate to address the matter this week, as the Committee's silence period had already begun. During this period, which runs from June 14 to 27, the entity does not comment on the inflation until the publication of the minutes.
