Plants can scream in cases of pain and stress

These plants are capable of emitting signals that animals are capable of perceiving. According to the study, tomatoes that are not watered begin to emit sounds from the second day without water, although apparently everything is normal. That's what mathematician Lilach Hadany of Tel Aviv University, co-author of the study, said.

The sounds cannot be picked up by human hearing, but are similar to hearing popcorn popping and can be similar to the volume of human speech. These sounds will vary, as it depends on the plant and how it was injured, as the dehydrated plant and the cut plant emit different sounds.

Research tells us that organisms that can hear the sounds emitted to plants consider a landscape with lots of sounds and lots of information. Hadany, co-author of the research, is a leader in a laboratory at the University of Tel Aviv, in Israel, and indicated that she uses machines to identify the evolution of plants.

The team emitted the sound of bees buzzing near a particular bush of primrose plants. Upon hearing the sound, the flowers began to release the sweetest nectar, and this only happened when they heard the buzzing of the bees.

This indicates that the flowers were able to “hear” the sound of the bees, and this is one explanation for understanding why the insects are buzzing near the flowers.
