Main changes in the new CNH
Items for greater security
Although not new, the new qualification is available in digital and printed format. The physical version uses security paper and fluorescent, glow-in-the-dark inks, as well as items that can only be seen under UV (ultraviolet) light and a hologram.
In addition, it is important to clarify that the new documentation standard highlights holders of temporary or permanent driver's licenses. For this, the new portfolio has one of the two letters highlighted, as follows:
- Letter "D" to identify the driver who has the definitive;
- Letter “P” to identify the driver who has the permit.
international use
In addition, the international code used in the passport (through the MRZ code – Machine Readable Zone) was added to allow drivers to board at airport self-service terminals Brazilians. As it also prints information in English and French, in addition to Portuguese, the document will facilitate its use in other countries.
visual change
The new driver's license model does away with the dominance of green and will now have two colors: green and yellow. According to the new official document, the driver's signature will be inserted below the photo at the bottom of the document. With this, the document differs from the current one, in which the signature was placed after the fold.
Same expiry date
In addition, there will be no changes to the validity of the new CNH model. With this, the validity period of the document remains at ten years for drivers under 50 years old, five years for those aged 50 to 69 years and three years for those aged 70 years or more.
Should I change my CNH from the old model to the new one?
The answer is no! The exchange of documents will not be immediate for drivers who have their CNH in hand today. Only when requesting the renewal of your document after expiration will it change to the new model. This way, if your CNH is valid today, there will be no need to change it.
