Morbius, one of the most delayed movies of the pandemic era, has been delayed yet again. Originally slated for a July 2020 release, the film - starring Jared Leto as the Marvel Comics – was moved to March 2021, then October 2021, then January 21, 2021 2022.
Then the Omicron variant of Covid-19 emerged, delaying the film's release yet again. Today, Sony announced that it was promoting Morbius from January to April 1, 2022.

Morbius was supposed to open a year and a half before Spider-Man: No Going Home. Instead, he will come at least four months after Spider-Man. That may very well have been one of Sony's considerations.
With Spider-Man performing well in theaters despite the pandemic, all Sony would be doing in releasing the film now is competing with itself. They're better off waiting.
The film, which was shot in spring and summer 2019, features Leto as Marvel's longtime anti-hero who was first introduced in the pages of 1971's The Amazing Spider-Man #101.
Instead of being bitten by a bat or another vampire, Morbius is a scientist who turns into a bloodsucker because of a science experiment gone wrong.
The film also stars Matt Smith, Adria Arjona, Jared Harris, Tyrese Gibson and Michael Keaton reprising his role as Adrian Toomes. A Spider-Man cameo seems highly unlikely, but the film's trailers show appearances by the Daily Bugle and the web.
Hopefully, the movie will finally see the light of day in April. If you were planning on going to see Morbius in a few weeks, well, you might as well go see Spider-Man: No Going Home again.
