The way to manage diabetes is to control blood sugar levels, so eating fruit might not seem like a good idea. While it contains many healthy nutrients, some options are higher in sugar than others. However, there are some fruits suitable for diabetics that contain lower amounts of sugar, making them good choices.

Fruits that diabetics can eat
Check out fruit options that can be eaten by diabetics without harming them due to the amount of sugar present in them.
Lemon
Lemon is a citrus fruit rich in amounts of vitamin C and antioxidants. It works by reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease and thrombosis, a common condition in people with diabetes. Lemon intake can be made with water (as a juice) or even in the preparation of salads or other meals.
Guava
Guava already contains a low glycemic index and glycemic load (indicates the quality and quantity of carbohydrates in a given food). In it, we also find a lot of fiber and vitamin C, making it a great snack for diabetics.
Strawberry
Strawberries are another fruit diabetics can eat due to their low glycemic index, low glycemic load, and high levels of antioxidants. This fruit helps fight free radicals (which damage healthy cells in our body) caused by diabetes.
Raspberry: One of the best fruits for diabetics
The raspberry is an excellent fruit, perhaps the best, for consumption by people who have diabetes. They contain only 5 grams of sugar per cup, plus plenty of fiber to fill you up. An American study, from the Illinois Institute of Technology, recruited 32 adults (aged 20 and 60) to eat three different meals for breakfast. However, the calories and macronutrients per meal were similar, the serving size of raspberries was different.
Meal number one did not have raspberries, meal number two included one cup, and meal number three provided two cups of raspberries. Thus, the researchers concluded that, for those at risk of developing diabetes, eating more raspberries reduced the amount of insulin needed to control blood glucose.
