There are thousands of endangered species of animals, largely as a result of human action on their natural habitats. Moreover, unfortunately many others ceased to exist for the same reasons.
On the other hand, there are some examples of extinct animals which, to the surprise of biologists and researchers, reappeared in nature.

- Bald eagle
You probably recognize this animal and associate it with American patriotism. After all, the Bald Eagle is one of the symbols representing the culture of the United States. However, this was not enough to prevent them from becoming virtually extinct in the 20th century.
In this case, the main cause of the animal's death was the use of the pesticide DDT, in addition to illegal hunting, pollution and habitat extinction. In response to this threat, the US government created the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act, which led to a true resurgence of the animal in the United States.
- Galapagos giant tortoise
There are several types of turtles that are going through the process of extinction at this very moment, and many have already become extinct. For a while this was the reality of the giant tortoise of the Galapagos, coming from the island that bears its name, the Galapagos Islands. This really giant species practically disappeared in the 16th century, and it was only in the 1970s that it managed to rise again. But it is worth mentioning that the strengthening of the species came after a series of environmental protection measures.
- elephant shrew
Can you believe this cuteness has almost disappeared? According to studies, elephant shrews have gone almost 50 years without any record of their appearance in Somalia, the animal's native country. However, in 2020 a team of researchers found a new community with a considerable amount of shrews. This clearly excited the world of animal protection and resulted in a veritable task force to ensure their survival.
- Spix's Macaw
Finally, we have this very Brazilian example, which is the case of the Blue Macaw, which had its extinction from nature decreed in 2000. However, the Chico Mendes Institute of Biodiversity, in partnership with the German NGO Association for the Conservation of Threaten Parrots (ACTP) signed a partnership to reverse the situation. Thus, around 50 Spix's Macaws kept in captivity will come to Brazil, where scholars will map their reproduction. With a lot of work, the teams believe it is possible to reintegrate the specimen into its habitat.
