Successfully, the examples of the robot EVE already appear as security guards in some selected places in Europe and the United States. In other words, they were able to integrate into professional environments.
The fact gains even greater prominence when compared with a Tesla action, by Elon Musk, who is also investing in a humanoid robot model, Optimus.
The EVE robot has been in operation since April this year. According to the CEO and founder of 1X, Bernt Bornich, he exceeded his initial expectations.
Understand the humanoid robot EVE, funded by OpenAI
As you can see in the picture, EVE is equipped with a head, arms and hands, and can move autonomously on wheels.
They are tested in real scenarios before being implemented in workplaces.
When on active duty, they are supervised by humans. In the event of any problems with the robot, human security professionals can take control of its body and neutralize it.
Pondering expanding EVE's field of action, Bernt Bornich believes robots could soon also be employed as caregivers for elderly.
Its integration into real job functions will bring potentially useful data with a view to training android for other tasks in the future.
Unlike other non-humanoid robots, among its capabilities, it can open doors and windows and manipulate objects. Although it seems simple at first glance, it is a breakthrough that is already being demonstrated to the public.
Additionally, EVE has an LED face that allows it to display reactions.
Perspectives on the future
When the CEO of 1X was asked about the advantages of having a robot like EVE, he replied that they have the potential to solve the shortage of labor in a short term.
So he expects the problems to be resolved in the next five to ten years. The estimate is very similar to that of OpenAI.
As highlighted on the 1X website, the company is developing NEO, an intelligent android assistant.
He will have bipedal locomotion, which allows him to walk like a human being, but through his wheels.
