Do you remember him? The soda crush was a rage in the 1970s and 1980s. The orange drink went head to head with Fanta and was very successful around here.

But you know what happened to the refrigerator Crush? If you've always been curious about the subject, read on!

First, let's remember the history of Crush soda

The American chemist Neil C. Ward created Crush in 1911 using orange peels to flavor the carbonated beverage. Over the years, he has improved the recipe.

In the 1950s, soda arrived in Brazil and, during its stay in Tupiniquin lands, it was produced by several companies. Among them are Golé, Pakera and NewAge Bebidas.

At about that time, the

soda has already started to gain the palate of Brazilians. As a result, he began to rival tête-à-tête with Fanta, an orange soda produced by Coca-Cola – and, in many places, he was even more popular than her.

To try to embrace even more people, Crush also started to be sold in grape flavor.

the beginning of the end

The orange soda slump started well into the early 1990s. The company that produced it got confused in the strokes and the drink lost space in the Brazilian market. In addition, there was a problem with brand licensing.

In 2011, the Coke Norsa even acquired the necessary licenses to produce the drink here again. Thus, they launched Crush Cajuína, which mixed guarana soda with cashew juice – a curious combination, isn't it?

The version was marketed only in the Cariri region, in Ceará, and was a commercial failure. The “flop” was enough to bury the brand in Brazil for good.

Does Crush still exist?

Yes, Crush is still sold, but not in Brazil. According to the drink's official website, it is sold in some parts of Chile (the closest country where the soda still exists), in the United States, Canada, Syria and Lebanon.

In these countries, soda is also sold in other flavors, such as cherry, strawberry, pineapple and peach. Makes you want to try it, doesn't it?
