O McDonalds, the world's largest chain of hamburger fast food restaurants, is entering the gaming market to celebrate the 52nd anniversary of its original character, Grimace.
The big furry purple acorn, who is best friends with the aka Ronald McDonald's, inspired a side-scrolling platform game that runs on mobile devices, desktops and, amazingly, Game Boy Color – where McDonald’s released it for free on the 12th of June.

Grimace's Birthday
Developed by Brooklyn-based independent studio Krool Toys, known for turning popular albums into retro games, it takes place on Grimace's birthday. He needs to round up his missing friends before it's time to blow out the candles on his cake, and you guide him on his really cool skateboard, collecting purple milkshakes along the way. There's a normal mode and a "hard mode" where autogrind is removed and tricks are worth double points.
It is quite easy to understand why. O game's official website, which you can play without having to download, looks like a perfect time capsule of the internet from the 2000s.
Just for the record, Grimace was born in 1971, but computers weren't necessarily that sophisticated back then.
