The Ministry of Education disclosed, this Wednesday (21), that more than 38,000 people have already participated in the online public consultation on the restructuring of secondary education. The survey wants to know what is the opinion of high school students, teachers and managers of institutions across the country.
A high school reform was started in 2017 and, since then, has been subject to several criticisms from the school community and the general population. Because of this, the MEC decided to open a dialogue on the subject through the public consultation. The measure was published in Ordinance No. 399, of March 2023.

Objectives of the High School Public Consultation
The main objective of the research is to understand the views of the school community on the educational policy adopted in the curriculum reform. In addition, according to MEC, it is expected to obtain ideas that correspond to the needs and expectations of Brazilian schools.
To respond to the public consultation, all you need is access to the internet and WhatsApp. The search is carried out in the messaging application through an automatic and interactive system. On average, participants take seven minutes to complete the survey.
According to the MEC, with the “interactive tool, participants will be able to answer the consultation questions by through their cell phones or computers, through a QR code or the link provided by the schools themselves”.
The participation of everyone who fits the profile of the survey is very important and will be available until July 6th.
Understand the criticisms of New High School
O Ministry of Education needed to consult the opinion of the Brazilian population after receiving questions about the New Secondary School.
In the proposed new model, students will have a greater workload and classes will be divided into training itineraries that can be deepened in an area of knowledge. One of the criticisms is the question that each institution has autonomy to decide the itineraries. However, many schools do not have the necessary infrastructure to offer the subjects.
In addition, the increase in the workload makes it impossible for poorer students to work and study at the same time. Finally, the population is concerned about the fact that traditional subjects have less class time, which would affect student learning.
