Consuming more than 300 ml of soda per week can cause cancer and heart attack

According to a group of scientists from the United States and China, consuming more than one can of soda per week, that is, about 300 ml of the drink, can increase the risk of developing cancer and the occurrence of attacks cardiac.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), in general, people should consume a maximum of six teaspoons of sugar per day, which is equivalent to 24 g in total.

Ideal sugar intake by age group

Despite still being inconclusive to a certain extent, studies that warn of regulated consumption of sugar bring some data that must be observed carefully, such as those mentioned previously.

  • Four to six year olds: up to 19 g;
  • Children aged seven to ten: up to 24 g;
  • Pre-teens ages 11 and up: up to 30 g;
  • Adults: up to 30 g per day maximum.
