O Metro surprised its customers by announcing a major change in its stores: from now on, they will start slicing their meat fresh on site.
That means consumers will be able to enjoy whatever protein is freshly sliced in each of the sandwich chain's approximately 20,000 locations across the United States.

After the troubled events related to Tunagate, which generated allegations about the lack of tuna in tuna salad from Subway, the company is committed to ensuring the quality and authenticity of its products.
According to a recent report in Today, Subway invested more than $80 million in purchasing automatic deli meat slicers for all of its US franchisees.
Subway announces fresh meats and new menu
This new approach will allow customers to witness the slicing process in real time, increasing transparency and confidence in ingredient quality.
By having the slicers on display, Subway reinforces its commitment to providing an authentic experience, ensuring that the
meat be sliced fresh and at the time the customer places the order. Before, the company only sliced the piece of meat in the factory and took it to the stores. With the novelty, customers will be able to see the fresh meats being stamped on the counters in 80% of the stores in the United States.
In addition to the implementation of the slicers on display, Subway is bringing new features to its menu with the introduction of the “Subway Series” collection.
This collection consists of a selection of the best sandwiches, which can now be ordered by name and number, making it easier for customers to choose and order.
Subway's recent updates mark another step in its continual improvement journey, following the successful “Eat Fresh Refresh” campaign in 2021, in which the chain introduced new sandwiches and renewed the appearance of its restaurants.
Despite the great news, we still don't know when the fresh meats will arrive at Subway counters here in Brazil. We will keep waiting!
