Boost your internet: adjust the position of the router and feel the difference

Many people suffer from signal fluctuations. WiFi, a factor that generates a lot of discomfort these days because of the widespread need for internet access. In these cases, the telephone lines of the internet providers are crowded with customers dissatisfied with the supposed problems with the internet supply.

However, most of the time the problem is not with the internet provider, but with the router that is in the home or place of work of the complainants. It turns out that the positioning of the routers directly interferes with the emission of WiFi signals, which are made through radio waves.

To give you an idea, in most places where the wireless internet signal is showing instability, the routers are plugged into sockets very close to the ground, which leaves them in a position little favourable. In other situations, the WiFi signal transmitter is “locked” inside a piece of furniture or with the antennas facing an obstacle, such as a wall, for example.

So, if your home or workplace WiFi signal is weak, it may be time to check your router placement.

If he's too low or behind obstacles, change his positioning. Also, look carefully in which rooms of the property the signal fluctuates the most, as the distance and obstacles, such as the aforementioned walls, can block the WiFi signal.

Better positioning of the router should be a rule

Some people believe that the recommendation to better position a router to have a better signal is silly, but this is a big mistake.

In fact, the ideal thing is for the device to be positioned as high as possible, as the radio waves emitted by it always seek the ground, that is, they are “thrown” downwards.

On the other hand, it is also ideal to look for a central place to position the router, as wireless Internet waves are emitted in all directions.

In an interview given to the British newspaper The Sun, an expert who collaborates with the famous internet provider AllConnect, from the United States, explained this subject.

“Routers send signals in all directions, so by placing it in a central location, you eliminate distance from any device in your home and can get a better connection,” he said.

In another interesting tip, the professional teaches how to have better internet coverage in properties with more than one floor.

“If you live in a two-story house, place the router closer to the ceiling on the first floor or closer to the floor on the second level to allow for the best coverage.” he advised.

The technician also recommends that, in order to have a good WiFi connection, users place the router away from metallic objects.

“Likewise, it is important to keep your WiFi router away from other objects, especially if they are made of metal.”
