This is an online map service powered by Google. Launched in 2005, Google Maps allows users to search and view maps and satellite images from virtually anywhere in the world. The service offers public transport directions, car and bike routes and real-time traffic information.

And it doesn't stop there: there are also estimates of local establishments and attractions, as well as integration with other company services, such as Google Street View. As you can imagine, many users are concerned about cases where the internet is slow. Did you know that there is a possibility to use the app without mobile data? To use it when there is no internet available, you must have downloaded the application. Unfortunately, in some regions, it is not possible to download offline maps due to contractual limitations, language support, address formats or other reasons. Check out the step by step to have access to Maps at all times:

  • Open the Google Maps app;
  • Make sure you have an internet connection and are logged in to your account;
  • Search for a place where you would like to go;
  • On the right side of the device, click on the 3 vertical dots and then on “More”;
  • Then click “Download offline map” and enjoy.

After performing this process, you can use Maps normally.

If your connection Internet is slow or unavailable, offline maps will normally take you to your destination as long as the entire route is saved. What is worth remembering is that public transport, bicycle or walking routes are not available in this modality. Also remember that it is not possible to see traffic information, alternative routes or lane guidance without mobile data.
