Consumers find 'foreign bodies' in Fugini tomato sauce and feel sick

In the last week, two people residing in the state of Goiás reported finding “foreign objects” inside sachets of tomato sauce manufactured by the company Fugini.

Both complaints claim that these consumers became ill after consuming products from the aforementioned brand of foodstuffs.

As a result of these complaints, the State Delegacy for Repression of Crimes against Consumers (Decon) opened an investigation to verify whether the company had committed any irregularities.

Decon do DF also points out that any individual who identifies “foreign objects” in sachets of tomato sauce from Fugini or any other brand, must immediately report the incident.

The G1 portal, from Grupo Globo, contacted Fugini by email this Sunday (16) in order to obtain a position regarding the aforementioned case. The media outlet is still awaiting a response from the company.

Coincidentally, the opening of the investigation in Goiás took place in the same week that the National Surveillance Agency Sanitary (Anvisa) reversed its ban on the production, sale and distribution of Fugini products in the state of São Paul.

To support the aforementioned prohibition, the agency spoke of “serious flaws” in hygiene in the production of the company's branch located in Monte Alto, a city located in the state.

At the moment, the Fugini website informs, through a note, the orientation for the withdrawal of products from the Mayonnaise Fugini lines and Mayonnaise Ramy produced at the Monte Alto unit, in the period between December 20, 2022 and March 21, 2023.
