Flying vehicles are categorized as the means of transportation for the future. In addition to being present in fiction films for many years, flying cars have been gaining prominence in recent years.
This Friday, February 17, 2023, the Masc research group carried out a test with one of its prototypes. However, what most caught the attention of those who follow the publications about it was that there were passengers in it.
This flight was carried out in southwest Japan, in Oita Prefecture, with the flying vehicle built in China. The Okayama-based group has developed a two-seater car based on drone technology.
For takeoff, the researchers traced a pre-programmed route, which provided greater control of the test conditions in addition to ensuring more safety for the crew. It is worth mentioning that the car took off without the presence of a pilot in control of the aircraft!
In approximately three and a half minutes the car rose vertically reaching a height of 30 meters, in addition, it flew under the sea at 36 kilometers per hour.
After the test, the president of the Masc research group, Kirino Hiroshi, commented to the media about the purpose of developing this vehicle and its future:
“Our goal is to turn flying cars into a commercial proposition”; “I think that possibility is growing.”
According to the Ministry of Transport, this was an unprecedented event in the country. They claim that the manned test in Oita was the first conducted in open space in Japan.
