The choice of the name of the little Brazilian Barbie
Santos resident Roberta da Costa Brandão, 41, represents the most enthusiastic fans of the most famous doll in the world. She is so in love with Barbie that when her first daughter was born, she decided that the child would be named after the doll.
To the G1 portal, the mother says that she always liked the toy and the color pink during her life. So when she got pregnant, she knew she was going to have a girl.
“I didn't think twice about naming her Barbie. It's like my homage to the doll. She, my daughter, is my articulated Barbie,” she said.
However, the woman recalled that the registry office almost prevented her wish. The attendant did not immediately accept the idea and decided to consult the site supervisor before completing the registration.
The child's father also did not agree with the choice, but Roberta was firm and defended the decision, claiming it was her dream and emphasizing: “the only person who can ban me is the judge. If he doesn't say it's forbidden, nobody will stop me."
The second son, ten months old, was almost named Ken to honor the Barbie doll and companion. According to the mother, the only idea was not realized because her passion for Ken is not as big as the love for barbie.

The choice of the daughter's name has already generated countless unusual situations and aroused curiosity in people. However, the mother is already used to this reaction, as many believe that it is a nickname for the name Barbara.
“Sometimes I call my daughter quickly by her name, ‘Barbie,’ and people ask if she is Barbara. I explain that she is Barbie, just like the doll. They look at me in astonishment and, after it sinks in, I say: 'Really, it's crazy, but it's real'", says Roberta.
The mother already considers these moments as a common response when she finds out that her daughter is called Barbie. Other situations that also generated negative comments are your passion for pink color, present in all your everyday clothes.
However, Roberta says that, for her, this way of life and the Barbie doll are a “matter of spirit”. So she doesn't care about other people's criticism. In fact, her home decor and most of her clothes also pay homage to the doll's favorite color from the 1950s.
