Luisa, one of the students responsible for the project, emphasized the importance of having validation from the people who will really benefit from the application.
They asked for suggestions on how to improve the functionality of the platform and make it even more useful for those using it. A great example of these suggestions was the recently added emotion bar.
Sara, another young entrepreneur in charge of the project, explained that people who communicate using sign language need a way to understand other people's facial expressions.
It's something so important that it can be lost in translation. That's why they included emojis that help to capture the facial expression of the person communicating and thus understand the intonation of what is being said.
What motivated the young women to create an app
Imagine you are in a situation where you cannot communicate with someone because of a language barrier.
With that in mind, Sara decided to learn more about Libras. Even though she doesn't have any family members who use this communication, she became interested in the subject to be able to communicate with elderly people in the family who have hearing impairments.
Since she was a child, Sara already liked to read about Libras and tried to reproduce some signs. Even during classes at Senac, where a deaf professor taught, she tried to communicate with him using the little she learned on her own.
This willingness to communicate and make everyone able to communicate with each other helped spark an idea for a project.
