The image below contains an equation and you must figure out the answer. Do not forget to pay attention to the number of numbers and the order in which the mathematical operations must be solved. Without further ado, it's time to solve the challenge!
And there? Did you manage to answer? Let's start the explanation of the calculation and, if you haven't found the answer yet, you can try again following the step by step. To solve this equation, the most important thing is to follow the correct order in which the operations must be done.
So, the correct thing is to apply a rule called BODMAS, which means that you need to solve equations in the following way: first B – Brackets; then O – Order of powers or roots; right after D – Division; in the sequence M – Multiplication; continuing with A – Addition and; lastly, S – Subtraction.
So first you must multiply 1 x 0 in the third row, which gives 0. So you will have the following equation:
1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1
1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1
1 + 0 + 1
Now, before you start adding up all the 1's, notice that the last 1 in the first row, as well as the second row, don't have any op signs next to them. So, you would assume that the last 1 in the first row and the first 1 in the second row make 11, and consequently you would have this equation: 1+1+1+1+11.
Moving on, you now have 1 + 1 + 1 on the second line and once again the 1 at the end of the second line with no operation next to it. So you must again assume that the last 1 in the second row and the first 1 in the third row make 11.
