Research shows that beer drinkers have greater mental well-being

In common sense, we say that drinking beer can be a great way to improve the day, even more so with friends. However, we can say that this is not just idle talk, as science points to the same conclusion. In recent research, scientists at the University of Murcia in Spain concluded that drinking beer can be beneficial for mental health.

The research assumes that moderate and regular consumption of beer can be beneficial. Therefore, it established the consumption criterion of up to 12 g, or one can, for women, and up to 24 g, or two cans, for men, both per day. In addition, the research compared the data with those who abstain from beer and other alcoholic beverages.

Thus, it was possible to conclude that those who have a moderate consumption of beer have a better mental health relationship than those who do not drink. More precisely, 90% of drinkers were able to classify their mental health as good. In contrast, only 80% of those who abstain recorded the same result.

In addition, research has shown that people who drink have fewer problems with mild and severe physical limitations. On the other hand, ex-drinkers were more likely to have physical and mental health problems. Those numbers even factor in the fact that people who don't drink tend to have healthy habits like exercise and diet.

Beer is not medicine!

The research also points out that it is not possible to relate the consumption of beer to a kind of medicine for mental health. That's because the research works with people who have a moderate consumption of beer. Consuming alcoholic beverages in general can be responsible for bringing about various mental and physical health problems.

That said, it's worth remembering that excess alcoholic beverage can lead to health problems, such as chemical dependency, in addition to liver diseases and much more. It is very important to consider this feature in a healthy way, without going overboard and with awareness of the act. Thus, it will be possible to think of beer as a complement to health.
