All classes are offered in MEC's ​​Virtual Learning Environment (Avamec), through Board of Special Education (DEE), linked to the Secretariat of Specialized Modalities of Education (Semesp).

The courses are managed by the Federal University of Goiás (UFG).

What are MEC special education courses like?

MEC courses have a wide range of educational content. The main objective is to eliminate barriers and provide opportunities for adequate pedagogical actions on special education throughout the country.

The activities begin in the teaching-learning process in early childhood, literacy, within the scope of elementary education (I and II) and secondary education. In addition, it embraces higher education classes and even Youth and Adult Education (EJA).

There are approaches to theoretical and methodological concepts, historical, political and social aspects. And all courses are self-instructional, that is, there are no tutors and learning is done by the student.

Who can take the courses?

The courses are intended for all teachers in specialized educational services. They can also be done by education professionals, family members and people interested in the themes.

What are the themes?

The topics are as follows: Physical, Visual and Intellectual Disabilities; Spectrum Disorder autistic (TEA); Child education; High Skills or Giftedness; and Educational Service in Hospital and Home Environments.

There is also a specific course on educational assistance for students with syndromes and rare diseases.
