According to the National Consumer Secretariat of the Ministry of Justice and Public Security, notification was made yesterday to the stores Zara to provide due clarification on undue charges made to its consumers for gift bags and envelopes. According to information, the amounts of R$ 0.60 and R$ 0.80, referring to the packaging units, were being charged unduly and without communication.

Minister of Justice Anderson Torres stated in a note that “it is necessary to make it clear to the consumer so that, when arriving at the store to carry out the shopping, don’t be surprised by packaging charges”. “With this notification, we seek to reinforce that the relationship between the company and the customer must take into account the transparency”, said the minister.

It was added that Zara would still have 10 calendar days, counting from the date of receipt of the notification, to respond to the inquiries made by the Secretariat. “If the deadline is not met, an administrative proceeding will be initiated against the network”, concludes the note.
