This isn't the first time Google Docs has gone through updates, but if you're curious to know which ones were the most recent, see details below.
The first change concerns the three default styles for indexes. Now, the user will be able to choose a plain text template, a dotted one and a linked one for each section of the document.
This renovation made possible a checkbox allowing to activate or deactivate page numbering. In the tab tab, line styles will also be available. All this will facilitate optimized formatting.
What other updates happened?
The checkboxes, which are below the cascading menu, will allow you to define which headings will be kept in the table of contents. If you want to remove any, just uncheck the box.
In this same menu, it will be possible to indent each title from six different presets. The variation goes from 0.1 to 25 inches, offering more versatility when it comes to aligning each header.
Adjusted Tables in Doc
Regarding the properties of tables, Google has also reorganized it. In the side menu, three alignment preferences will be displayed: left, centered and right. Thus, the user will be able to select the order of the columns and the indentation with the desired size.
In addition, a new “cell” was added in the Sidebar with specific formatting options for each table field. In this way, it will be possible to vertically align or configure the fill model of the cell.
These changes aim to make life easier for users.
Even if they are considered basic, all these changes are aimed at optimizing the lives of those who deal with tables on a daily basis. Everything will be positioned in one place, centralized and with all the formatting options available.
