Brazilian universities compete in the Global Rocket Competition

The Spaceport America Cup is a renowned competition that brings together teams from universities around the world to showcase their skills and expertise in aerospace engineering.

Five Brazilian teams, from public institutions, were summoned to participate in the competition. The event will start on the 19th of this month and end on the 24th. This year, the event will be in New Mexico, in the United States.

The competition will have the participation of 158 teams from 24 different countries, being divided into six categories, considering the type of engine used in the rockets, which can be commercial or developed by the team itself, as well as the distance reached by the releases.

Brazilian universities will compete in the Spaceport America Cup

The teams from Brazilian universities are the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ), the University of Brasília (UnB), the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC) and the University of São Paulo (USP).

Of the universities active in the competition, two are from Rio de Janeiro, being UERJ and UFRJ. Do Sul, representing Santa Catarina, UFSC. From São Paulo, the largest university in the country, USP, with the participation of the Brazilian capital in the competition, UnB. The team is heavy!

Together, they will have the opportunity to compete with other teams from around the world and showcase their aerospace engineering skills and knowledge.

Teams from Brazilian universities – Minerva Rockets and Sats (UFRJ), GFRJ (UERJ), Kosmos Rocketry (UFSC), Capital Rocket (UnB) and Projeto Jupiter (USP) – will be competing in different Spaceport America categories Cup.

The Minerva Rockets and Sats team, the GFRJ team and the Kosmos Rocketry team will participate in the self-developed solid-engined rockets, which aim to reach an altitude of 3 kilometers.

On the other hand, the Capital Rocket team and the Project Jupiter team will compete in the rocket category with self-developed hybrid/liquid engine, also with the aim of achieving 3 kilometers of height.
