The surprising event occurred when the cleaner, irritated by the sound emitted by a freezer in the laboratory, decided to turn off the equipment where cell cultures and other samples used in studies.

This freezer was kept at a constant temperature of -45ºC, which dropped to -4ºC when turned off, rendering all the material stored there unusable.

The Institute, founded in 1824, which is known as the first university of technological research of the United States, took the initiative to file a lawsuit against the company responsible for the professional.

According to the matter of The Sun, there was a sign in the freezer explaining how to turn off the sound signal without affecting the operation of the equipment, but, according to the company, this instruction was ignored.

Lab staff now regret what happened and reflect on the importance of ensuring that warnings are actually noticed by employees.

They acknowledge that taking a few minutes to provide basic instructions and emphasize the importance of attention to detail could have prevented the incident.

During interrogation, the attorneyof the institute, Michael Ginsburg, revealed that the cleaner did not seem to believe he had made a mistake, claiming he was just trying to help. The lack of understanding on the part of the worker regarding the consequences of his actions further aggravated the situation.

While Rensselaer Polytechnic seeks redress through court proceedings against the cleaning company, they are also evaluating ways to prevent similar incidents in the future. The safety and preservation of valuable research became even more of a priority after this episode.

As the court case continues, the Institute hopes this tragic incident will serve as a reminder to all parties involved about the importance of ensuring the work of years and obeying the rules for handling equipment in the installation.
