The safest countries on the internet

the company of VPN, NordVPN, surveyed several countries around the world on their handling of cybersecurity using the National Privacy Test. It "is designed to assess aspects of an individual's online life, such as their understanding of cybersecurity in theory and ability to recognize threats," the company says.

Now let's break the ice: Brazil is on the list, but it's not in first place. This one will definitely surprise you.

According to this survey by NordVPN, the country with the most cybersecurity management is the Vatican. Yes, the world's smallest country is the best equipped to react correctly to online threats.

How was the survey done?

According to the company, the survey used data collected since 2020. There were almost 140,000 respondents, from 192 countries, who answered 20 simple questions. For each correct answer, the country gained points. Then the nation scores were ranked.

The Vatican scored 72 points – more than any other country in the survey. Those living in the smallest country in the world “demonstrated excellent awareness of digital risks and how to avoid them”, says a press release from NordVPN.

But it's not just flowers, huh? The company also criticized Vatican residents, saying they need to improve their use of online services and use privacy tools to be truly safe in the virtual environment.

Where is Brazil on the cybersecurity list?

Don't worry, we'll get there soon. First, we need to point out that Europe dominated the Top 10 in the survey of cybersecurity. In second place is Finland and in third place is the Czech Republic.

The only country outside Europe to top the ranking is Singapore, in seventh place.

Now yes: Brazil scored 67 points and had the highest score in Latin America. However, the test showed that the digital habits of Brazilians are terrible.

We have a certain notion and discernment to avoid suspicious links, strange emails and we are aware of how harmful it can be to save your credit card data out there. However, we ignore app disclaimers, we don't have secure Wi-Fi at home, and we have no idea how much information Facebook can steal from our account.
