The American brand Purism recently launched the “Liberty Phone”, also known as the “Liberty Phone”. This mobile device stands out for being designed and manufactured entirely in the United States.
The company's goal is to prevent technology theft and industrial espionage by offering consumers a smartphone made outside of China and the "walled gardens" of the Google and the apple.

Unlike Android and iOS operating systems, Liberty Phone is powered by Pure OS, a system derived from Debian, an open source platform based on the Linux.
This means that cell phone owners have access to a full desktop mode when they connect the device to a monitor, in addition to enjoying the advantages offered by an open source system.
One of the great advantages of this model is the ability to turn off its hardware connectivity, ensuring a higher level of privacy. The company even promises to introduce additional security features in the future.

However, the privacy offered by the Liberty Phone comes at a high price. The official value of the product is US$ 2,199 (about R$ 10,645), more than twice the price of a iphone 14 conventional.
The high values are due to the fact that the labor involved in the production of the cell phone is entirely American, which makes the process more expensive.
Furthermore, the technical specifications of the Liberty Phone do not impress experts in technology and communication.
The device has a 13 MP main camera and an 8 MP front camera, 4,500 detachable battery mAh with 18 W recharge, Bluetooth 5.3, quad-core NXP processor, 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage internal. The 5.7-inch TFT screen has an HD resolution of 720 x 1440 pixels.
It is important to note that Liberty Phone sales are aimed at the American public and there is no forecast that the product will be available in other countries.
The innovative proposal of “Celular da Liberdade” seeks to offer users greater security and privacy, in addition to promoting domestic manufacturing in the United States.
Although its price is quite high compared to other devices on the market, it appeals to those who value provenance and protection of personal data.
It remains to be seen whether the proposal will be successful and whether other countries will have the opportunity to try out this new option in the future.
