Future of programming: Google's new AI writes code by itself

There is no doubt that Artificial Intelligence (AI) will be one of the drivers of a new generation of technology. She already writes texts, edits videos and creates photos – as in the app’s new trend Lensa – in an automated way. Now, a new AI from Google may be able to write, correct and update its own computer code.

The project, for now, is secret. The information is from the Insider website. The provisional name of this AI is Pitchfork – name given to the pitchfork that gives the musical tone of orchestras and choirs.

How does this new Google AI work?

Pitchfork has machine learning and is part of a strategy by Google to enter the universe of AI generative. That is, the tools that can create images, videos and texts from algorithms.

Still according to Insider, the system will be able to teach itself the codes. Not only that, he will also learn to rewrite it himself.

The company is also testing to make this artificial intelligence learn programming styles. This way you will be able to write new functions.

Swap roles

The initial idea, according to the report, was for the tool to be used to update the code base Python from Google for newer versions. The original plan was to come up with a solution to switch code versions without hiring programmers or software engineers.

Then Google's AI started to take new directions. Now, the company's goal is for the system to reduce the need for human labor. And the biggest challenge is that the codes are rewritten without losing quality.

Humans still matter

Reducing the need for human labor does not mean that it will be completely discarded. Olivia Hatalsky, a former Google employee, told the Insider that Google has plans to use AI to work together and help developers.
