Young Writers: students publish books in project

The project Young Writers is an initiative of creative writing and youth protagonism from the public school CEPI Professor Pedro Gomes, located in Goiânia (GO).

The project coordinator, Ludmyla Gomes, who is a Portuguese language teacher, reports that this work was born out of the need to encourage students to read different genres.

Over time, she says, the project has enabled greater acceptance and self-discovery for the participants.

"The project also gives autonomy so that the student can discover himself as a writer, while records events in his personal life, which permeate his different relationships, inside and outside the school"

The institution offers full-time secondary education. In this modality, educators work with the development of students' socio-emotional skills and competences.

The teaching model is centered on the protagonism of students who are encouraged to create actions with social impact.

As a result, activities such as Young Writers work with the development of writing, critical thinking and identity formation.

Young Writers Project

Lara Ramos is one of the young authors of works published through the Young Writers project.

"The initiative had a great impact on my life project. Before writing, we work on the subject in class, we think about our timelines, events in our life, in addition to other activities with the aim of getting to know each other better, which helps us to have an idea about the future. In my letter I told about my goals and how my life was in and out of school. I also reflected on my expectations and how I felt about it all. In a way, I felt welcomed."

The themes addressed in the books always refer to the reality of the students.

In the year 2022, the participants developed a book with letters written to themselves (with a 10-year projection). In this work, a dialogue/monologue was worked out with the exposition of their narratives, post-pandemic desires.

Part of this book was composed of poems that presented aspects of the young authors' sensibilities and concerns.

José Neto, school manager, reinforces that the initiative goes beyond textual production, enabling the development of ordering ideas that present subjectivities and perceptions about the students' own narratives.

The manager emphasizes that initiatives like this contribute to strengthening youth protagonism and the educational approach in life projects.

Do not stop now... There's more after the publicity ;)
