The Ministry of Education (MEC) and the National Institute of Educational Studies and Research Anísio Teixeira (Inep) released this Wednesday (8) the final data of the first stage of the Basic Education School Census 2022. The results were announced at a press conference.
The study shows a small increase of 1.5% in the number of new enrollments. With regard to private schools, there is a return to levels before the Covid-19 pandemic.
What is the School Census?
The School Census aims to contribute to the promotion of public policies when collecting data and information on Brazilian basic education. The survey is carried out each year by the federal government.
Data on schools, teachers, managers, classes and students of all stages and modality of basic education teaching are highlighted.

Data from the 2022 School Census
The 2022 School Census recorded a total of 47.4 million students, at all stages of basic education, in 178.3 thousand schools.
