comparison is a figure of speech in the Portuguese language, which consists of the idea of relate two different terms in the same sentence, in order to reinforce or emphasize the message to be conveyed.
In the classification of figures of speech, the comparison is categorized as a "word picture" (cause semantic changes in the clause) and is known to be quite similar to the concept that defines the metaphor.

However, the main difference between the two is the need to use a connection word (how, it looked, such, which and etc) when making a comparison.
Example: "His eyes sparkled like stars in the sky" or “My son plays soccer like Pele".
Removing the connective terms, for example, no longer has a comparison and becomes a metaphor.
Example: "His eyes are stars in the sky" or “My son is Pelé in football”.
