Some people suffer in the kitchen when trying to prepare condiments that contain the requested olives in their composition. The suffering mentioned is related to the difficulty in opening the glass in which the olives are stored.
When trying to open the olive jar and not being able to, use the knowledge related to the thermal expansion of solids, as they will make your life in the kitchen easier.
The container that holds the olives and its lid are made of different materials, glass and metal respectively.
The solution to this problem consists in knowing that the coefficient of expansion of metal is greater than that of glass. Because when you impose a temperature variation so that the lid is gently heated, it will expand and the glass will also expand (as they are together), as the coefficient of expansion of metals is greater than that of glass, the expansion of the lid will be greater and, consequently, its opening will become facilitated.

Changing to “kids”, just bring the glass lid to a flame on the stove (it's not interesting that it touches) for a few seconds, that's it! Now just try to open it, it will be easier than initially.
