The rediscovery of China

Dated as one of the oldest civilizations in the world, China underwent several transformations in the social, political, economic and cultural spheres until reaching the state we know today. The first reports about China that are known are dated between 2,500 and 2,000 BC and refer to the northern and central regions of present-day Chinese territory.

With such an extensive history, Chinese civilization is also marked by an intense process of migration and the incorporation of other civilizations. Its belief system, philosophy, writing and political organization are some of the characteristics that make China a very peculiar culture. From there, we can understand why the differences between Chinese people and, mainly, Western civilization.

Currently, new researches are trying to re-evaluate documents and accounts that make reference to the history of the Chinese people. Until the last century, the trajectory of the Chinese people was made by official historians who limited themselves to talking about the political trajectory of the dynasties and governments that dominated the country. One of the more recent topics, for example, discusses China's relations with other oriental cultures such as Korean, Japanese and Vietnamese.

Do not stop now... There's more after the advertising ;)

In recent years, the process of economic globalization provided the expansion of contact between China and other civilizations on the planet. In 2008, the holding of the Olympic Games in the city of Beijing served as a new opportunity to reduce these “distances” between the Chinese and the rest of the world. China, more than an ancient civilization, is a world yet to be discovered.
