As you may already know, the verb is structured on a morphological basis composed of the stem, the thematic vowel, the ending (or suffix) temporal-mode and the ending (or suffix) personal-number. With the exception of the stem, the other morphic structures may sometimes not appear, as can be seen in the verbs above.

In addition to the morphological aspect, we can add the observation of another, phonetic character, which is responsible for a specific classification of verbal forms. It is the position of the stressed syllable. Note the previously analyzed verbs and their respective stressed syllables:

Do not stop now... There's more after the advertising ;)

(1) AMTHESSEM

(2) TRABASON

In (1), it is noted that the stressed syllable is located outside the stem, but in (2), it is not the same, since it is located inside the stem. So we say that the first verb has a form

arizotonic, that is, “without the root stress”; and the second verb has a form rhizotonic, that is, “with the root stress”.

Thus, we can conceptualize that:

The)rhizotonic form: is the verb form that has the stressed syllable located inside the stem.

Examples:

Fanlam

Andem

Pergunyou

B)arizotonic form: is the verb form that has the stressed syllable located outside the stem.

Examples:

CantThemos

winfrog
