Wanted or Wanted: When to use each shape?

Because they are almost words homographs, "wanted" and "quiz" generate spelling doubts in many people. Both are correct, but they are used in different contexts. Let's understand better?

The word "wanted" is the conjugation of the 1st and 3rd singular persons in the perfect past tense of the verb "to want".
